The three supported workflows

  • Direct Pay — the patient pays New Century Labs directly for lab testing. Simplest starting point; the clinic never touches the lab bill.
  • Service Fee — the patient pays New Century Labs for labs, and the clinic may charge a clearly disclosed fee for real professional or administrative services where appropriate.
  • Self-Managed — the clinic controls patient-facing pricing where state law, payer context, and counsel review support it.

New Century Labs supports Direct Pay, Service Fee, and Self-Managed workflows so clinics and their counsel can choose a model that fits state law, payer mix, and practice structure.

The Medicare boundary

New Century Labs supports cash-pay workflows for Medicare patients only for non-covered or patient-requested testing where Medicare is not billed. New Century Labs’ cash-pay Medicare workflow is intended for non-covered or patient-requested testing where Medicare is not billed. It should not be used to bypass Medicare billing rules for covered, medically necessary services.
